Hi, I'm Fred.
I'm a professional coach and founder of Why Up Professional Development Inc.
I'm also a world class procrastinator!
Yet, despite my own challenges with procrastination, I've done a lot. I'm trained and certified by the International Coaching Federation, Co-Active Training Institute, and I'm a certified Quantum Endeavors Executive Coach. Most of my work is with leaders and their teams, helping them become aware of and overcome their unconscious patterns of self-sabotage, so that they can be more productive, proactive, collaborative, creative, innovative, and unlock their full potential.
Before I became a coach I spent over two decades working in animation and visual effects, contributing to over 50 Hollywood films. From creating the Whomping Willow in Harry Potter, to the facial animation puppets for the Ninja Turtles, to overseeing the creation of the Sand Worms in Dune parts 1 & 2. Over those years I worked in a variety of creative, technical, and management roles, mostly related to creating realistic looking digital creatures and characters, optimizing technology and workflow, and helping brilliant people with very different skillsets and communication styles work effectively together.
I've led departments of diverse creatives and innovators. I know what it takes to bring ambitious projects to life. I also know what it's like to struggle with procrastination, perfectionism, and distraction.
I've also raced triathlon internationally on both the British and Canadian age group teams. completed 2 full Ironman endurance races, and once spent 5 months studying yoga in India with a 90 year old guru. I have a degree in Marine Biology and Dynamical Oceanography and a masters in Computer Graphics. Most importantly I'm a proud husband and dad of the most awesome twin toddlers.
I have ADHD. Most of the time it's a superpower, because it keeps me curious and able to connect ideas and get insights that others miss. Like many superpowers though it comes with some Kryptonite. I get distracted easily and have no shortage of unproductive habits. Yet I've managed to achieve a lot throughout my career. How? By learning to work WITH my brain instead of against it.
The Kick Procrastination In The Pants program is built on everything I've learned about what actually works, both from my own experience, from in-depth research on the latest behavioural psychology, and from coaching dozens of creative and business professionals to find solutions that work for them. Now you get all of this distilled into easy to bite-sized concepts and a flexible yet impactful structure to get you fast and impactful results.
Our brains have what it takes, sometimes they just needs the right nudge.
